People advised to act now on Christmas debt worries
The charity, Money Advice Trust, which runs the National Debtline service, is advising people to take steps now to deal with their financial problems and obtain expert advice.
A recent survey has shown that less than a third of people have budgeted for the Christmas period and a third of those surveyed would be borrowing money to pay for Christmas.
The Bank of England has also urged vigilance over personal debts, as debt levels have been accelerating recently.
