Construction activity improves in August
The rate of decline in the UK construction industry slowed in August according to the Purchasing Managers’ Index (“PMI”) of activity.
Experts see this as a potential sign that the economy is weathering Brexit better than widely feared, although caution should always be taken when reading into such figures in such uncertain times for the UK economy,
The PMI came in at 49.2 today, compared to July’s reading of 45.9. A score of 50 would indicate growth in the sector.
